geoff-billingtonGeoff Billington – International Show Jumper

Geoff Billington has been a leading figure on the show jumping circuit for over 30 years. He boasts both European and World Championship team bronze medals and has won numerous grand prix’s.

He represented Great Britain in 1981 at Hamburg CSIO , and has since been a valued member of the Nations Cup teams, appearing no less than 50 times and helping to secure nine victories.

Geoff is most famous for his partnership with the much loved It’s Otto, who received the BSJA Team Lifetime Award in 2001. When It’s Otto arrived at Geoff’s yard as a six-year old Geoff had planned to sell him, but following a chance injury he failed the vetting.

The duo went on to amass over £650,000 winnings, made 15 Nations Cup appearances, were Britain’s highest-placed partnership at the 1996 Atlanta Olympics and represented Britain again at the Sydney Olympics in 2000.

Geoff is not only renowned as a horseman, but is also something of an entertainer, known for doing impressions of his fellow riders.

He was awarded the ‘Horse & Hound Equestrian Personality of the Year’ in 1996, and presented the ‘Simply the Best Tour’ in partnership with John Whitaker.

We look forward to welcoming Geoff to Equus Live 2013.

HORSES INSIDEOUT 217 (6)About “Horses Inside Out”

Throughout the morning on Saturday 2nd November Gillian Higgins of Horse Inside Out will paint the Musculo-skeletal system on the horse. She will then show case her techniques in a series of Clinics in the Gain-Alltech Arena.

Founded by Sports and Remedial Therapist Gillian Higgins in 2006, “Horses Inside Out” is an educational service delivered in a fascinating and fun way. Its purpose is to show riders, trainers and therapists how, by understanding the anatomy, biomechanics and physiology of the horse, they can improve performance, maintain top physiological condition and manage horses for optimum muscular health and reduce the risk of injury.

Since having been on television and in national newspapers, Higgins has had requests to lecture all over the world. Horses Inside Out has given talks, seminars and conferences as far afield as Brazil, Qatar, South Africa, and North America, as well as in Europe and all over Great Britain.

The main reason d’etre for “Horses Inside Out” is ‘The Horse.’ When riders really understand the anatomy, they can manage their horses more sympathetically and train more effectively and sensitively. “Horses Inside Out” is delighted to support Alltech’s aims of promoting overall digestive health, supporting immune function and optimising performance.

Helen Kearney – Freestyle Dressage

Helen won three medals at the London 2012 Paralympics. Individually a silver and bronze and an Irish team bronze. Helen also won Ireland’s first European Para Equestrian medal winning bronze in the Grade 1a Individual Test in 2011.

Since Helen was diagnosed with Friedreich’s Ataxia in 2001, horses have been a huge part of her life. Horse-riding and the physical activity that goes hand in hand with it helps keep her strong both mentally and physically and gives her a reason to fight this debilitating disease.

Any one of us would consider it a lifelong achievement to compete on the world stage. To achieve that and to win three Paralympic medals is astounding. We look forward to welcoming Helen to Equus Live and watching her freestyle dressage display. www.helenkearney.ie
